    I want to know methods to value distressed debt, specially if there's a "quick and dirty" method.

    I don't know but if you come up with a good answer, e-mail to Treasury Secretary Geithner ASAP please. LOL.

    i know the mutual series funds do to a certain extent, but i'm interested in ones that have more exposure than less than 10%.

    LightSquared Files Chapter 11 'To Resolve Regulatory Issues'

    Billionaire Philip Falcone ‘s LightSquared filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, saying the move was necessary to protect the wireless communications company from “creditors who were looking for a quick profit.”

    Distressed-debt investors including Carl Icahn and David Tepper reportedly bought up LightSquared bonds at a discount as the company struggled to obtain a license to light up its combined satellite-terrestrial communications network covering North America. Those efforts came to an embarrassing end in February after the Federal Communications Commission pulled LightSquared’s conditional waiver to begin service over interference with GPS devices.

    Fitch Downgrades Homer City Funding, LLC Pass-Through Bonds to 'C'

    NEW YORK, May 07, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Fitch Ratings has downgraded Homer City Funding, LLC's (HCF) $300 million and $530 million pass-through bonds to 'C' from 'B' following the announcement of a planned debt exchange offer. Fitch views the proposed exchange offer to be a distressed debt exchange (DDE), and the downgrade is consistent with Fitch's 'Distressed Debt Exchange Global Cross Sector Criteria', published Aug. 12, 2011. The downgrade resolves the Negative Watch.
