Boehner to Obama: Cuts Must Exceed Next Debt-Limit Hike
At an address to the Peter G. Peterson Fiscal Summit later today, House Speaker John Boehner will call on President Obama to “again meet the principle of cuts greater than the hike” on any agreement to a looming debt-limit increase , which is expected during the lame-duck session after the election.

Dems: Boehner Renewed Debt Limit Fight Because He's In Thrall To Far Right
Democrats are horrified, but not exactly shocked, that House Speaker John Boehner plans to tee up a new debt limit fight .
In his weekly press briefing with reporters, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer attributed the development to Boehner’s weak grip on his party.
“Let me say that the dollar-for-dollar [requirement] led to the sequester which none of us like,” Hoyer said. “So while it sounds good, the execution of that principle does not seem to be very disciplined. We need to have a big, bold, balanced deal. The Speaker, in my view, believes that as well. The Speaker’s party does not believe in balance….We don’t adopt their priorities.”

Regina raising debt limit to $350M
As it eyes a new stadium and other big capital works, the City of Regina says it needs to raise its debt limit by 75 per cent.
At its regular meeting Monday night, City Council voted to boost the limit to $350 million from $200 million.
The City needs the money for, among other things, street construction, a sewage treatment upgrade and a proposed new Central Library branch downtown.
