366-day sentence for mortgage fraud
A 70-year-old Merriam man was sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison for mortgage fraud, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today. Scott Alexander pleaded guilty in January to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Alexander admitted in 2003 and 2004 that he submitted inflated property appraisals to lenders from his business, Atlantic Mortgage.
